who we are and what we do
Since 1988, we have measured, designed and installed our modular furniture for custom fit solutions. We are architects, designers, and problem solvers who help our customers maximize their space to be organized, functional, personalized and beautiful. Our job is to find places and spaces for all the things that matter.
We offer professional design services and consult with clients at our Manhattan showroom or at their home or business. Our clients are apartment owners, apartment renters, photography studios, universities, doctors, architects, and small business owners. We thrive on ideas like space planning, customization, and modularity. We like to get to know our clients, figure out what they need, and make it for them. the process
It starts simply with a consultation in the showroom with one of our designers. Bring in some rough measurements of your space - the approximate length and width will do - so we can sit down together to review your ideas and needs. We'll work with you to develop a few alternative layouts and then give you an accurate price quote for one of these preliminary designs. Once you're confident that we can provide the right solution at the right price, you'll invite us out to see your space. We'll work together to refine the design and we'll take detailed measurements. Then we'll prepare a final set of drawings for your approval. Our scheduling department will contact you and within five weeks our installers will bring your design to life.
why we’re differentWe are not here to just sell you a commodity. Our products and our services exist to deliver a unique solution created for your space and your personality. Our showroom is designed to show you a wide sampling of the options available to you. With our modular system every component can be customized to fit your needs. If in the future you decide you want to replace a drawer with a door, or turn a storage cabinet into a filing cabinet, we can do that. Matching components can always be added and your existing components can be reconfigured. If you have to move, we can dismantle your furniture and reinstall in a new space. And everything we sell is covered by a 10 year warranty.

frequently asked questions
|
|
Q. what geographical area do you service?
|
|
|
We offer our cabinetry, furniture and
interior design services throughout the New York City tri-state area. We
measure, design and install.
|
|
Q. where is your furniture showroom and when are you open?
|
|
|
techlineStudio New York is located
in Manhattan at 35 east 19th street. Call 212-674-1813 to schedule an
appointment, or just drop in with a rough sketch of your room. We are
open seven days a week: weekdays 10 to 6, Saturday and Sunday from noon
to 5.
|
|
Q. will techline Studio New York meet with me in my space and record the dimensions of my rooms and equipment?
|
|
Yes. We encourage you to first visit our two floor manhattan
furniture showroom to see our sample installations, and to assess the
style, price points, and quality of our furniture products. Bring a
rough sketch of your space with approximate dimensions. Our designers
will work with you to arrive at an initial design and give you an
accurate price quote. If you feel we have the right solution at the
right price, we visit to measure your space and make notes of everything
from the electrical outlets to the dimensions of your baseboard
moldings.
To visit residences, we ask for a non-refundable $500
fee which is applied in full to your order. This fee is waived for
commercial office space.
|
|
Q. what if my space is an odd size or has obstructions?
|
|
|
Our designers will design a solution to
fit your space exactly. Where needed, we order specially-sized
worksurfaces, panels, and cabinets. Our installers field cut counters
into corners, around pipes, and over radiators. Filler scribes between
cabinets and walls are sized for a built-in installation
|
|
Q. do you provide kitchen cabinets and countertops?
|
|
|
Yes. Our cabinetry system is frequently specified for use in New
York residential and commercial kitchens. However we do not act as a
general contractor or become involved in providing appliances or
fixtures. We will install our cabinets and counters according to
specified clearances for appliances to be installed by others, but
typically we deliver our materials for installation by a general
contractor who will assume responsibility for coordinating all electric,
plumbing, appliance and flooring issues.
|
|
Q. how might I save money if my project qualifies as a capital improvement?
|
|
Built-in furniture and cabinetry that qualilfies as a capital
improvement can result in significant savings. A
capital improvement is defined by the NY State Department of Taxation
and Finance as "an addition or alteration to real property that: a)
substantially adds to the value of the real property or appreciably
prolongs the useful life of the real property, and b) becomes part of
the real property or is permanently affixed to the real property so that
removal would cause material damage to the property or article itself,
and c) is intended to become a permanent installation." If your project
meets all three of these requirements you may request a certificate from
us or go to www.nystax.gov for the proper form.

|
Q. what are the advantages of a modular cabinetry and furniture system over traditional or full custom shops?
|
|
By designing with our extensive platform of pre-configured modular
pieces, we provide a custom installation but save on the cost of all
custom built pieces. Our cabinets and furniture can be manufactured to any
size, but we reduce costs by primarily designing with our pre-configured cabinet
dimensions. This saves both time and money. As required we will specify custom-sized pieces to attain
the overall dimension required. The finished installation is custom sized to our clients' space.
Our worksurfaces and
countertops are all custom sized and, if desired, can be field cut at end walls or around
columns, pipes and other obstructions for a perfect fit. Filler scribes between
cabinets and walls are provided for built-in installations.
Another advantage of using our modular system is that replacement parts, if needed, are readily available, as
are matching furniture and cabinets when expanding or reconfiguring. The long
term benefit is that you purchase once and re-configure or add pieces as
your needs change.
|
|
Q. what are the lead times?
|
|
- Approximately 2 to 3 weeks for Jesper modular products.
- Approximately 5 to 7 weeks for the full range of products and finishes.
|
|
Q. what about the quality of your products?
|
|
Please visit our Manhattan furniture showroom to assess the quality
of our products for yourself. Our contemporary furniture and cabinetry
system is built to commercial grade standards and is of superior quality
to most locally manufactured laminate products, or products available
from closet companies and furniture chains. We use the same system of
manufactured products for our commercial office installations as for
residential interiors. Some features that differentiate us include:
- All
our standard laminate colors feature solid-color edgebanding to avoid
the self-edge (black line) condition frequently seen along the edges of
inferior laminate work. Our matching egdebanding gives our laminate work
the appearance of a solid surface material.
- Cabinets are
constructed of 3/4” thick material (not 5/8".) All edges are finished with solid color edgebanding. All
cabinets have finished 3/4" back panels so they can be used as stand alone
pieces, or installed as conventional casework.
- All laminate
countertops are solid 1-1/8" thick with high pressure laminate (not
melamine.) High-pressure laminate will stand up to years of heavy use.
All wood counters and wood doors are of solid wood.
- All drawers
use full extension ball-bearing metal drawer glides carrying a 100 pound
load rating for box drawers, and 150 pounds for file drawers.
- Metal door hinges are concealed with six way adjustment for perfect alignment and performance.
-
If any components are damaged, replacement parts are readily available
from our customer service department. Our warranty is 10 years on
cabinet and furniture materials, 6 months on installation work.

Q. how "green" is your product ?
|
|
Our furniture product is constructed of wood panels made form 98% to 100% post industrial recycled content, meaning our panels are made almost entirely from the recovered scrap generated by other lumber industries. Our laminates are Green Guard certified for indoor air quality. Only solvent-free, water-based adhesives are used during the laminating process.
As an alternate to laminate, we offer our entire modular furniture and cabinetry system in a renewable bamboo veneer finish on formaldehyde-free substrate. All board consists of a No Added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF) Core with a Plain Sliced Natural Veneer Bamboo adhered with Columbia Forest Products Purebond Adhesive, a soy-based, formaldehyde-free glue. A bamboo veneer edgeband is used on all exposed edges. Our "greenest" countertop, PaperStone, is a beautiful and heavy-duty solid surface countertop material recommended for residential and commercial use. It is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and a proprietary, petroleum-free resin. It is the only solid surface material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, Smartwood and the Rainforest Alliance. Specifying PaperStone can earn up to five LEED points. In addition to our laminate, bamboo veneer, and solid wood counter tops, we continue to add countertops derived from recovered or sustainably harvested materials such as Dura Palm, Ply Boo, Richlite, and IceStone.
Of all the environmental impact factors to consider, perhaps the most important is durability. More energy is expended in furniture fabrication than at any other stage. A cabinet that lasts 25 years will use far less energy overall than one that lasts 5, and the longer it will avoid disposal into our landfills or our air. At techlineStudio our products are manufactured for durability and a long life, but, if damaged, replacement parts are readily available from our customer service department. That our products are easily movable and reconfigurable also adds to their life span. This flexibility allows the reuse of our furniture as our clients' needs change, reducing the need to discard existing furniture or to purchase new furniture.
